Delta Spotlight - Central Region: Amy Gillum, Kyle Steven & Lisa Andrew

With business booming in the North Island, the Delta Insurance Central Region team works out of brand-new offices in Tauranga servicing everywhere from Hastings to Hamilton and in between.

In insurance since 2013, Amy Gillum came on board way back in 2015 and has performed multiple roles on her way to becoming a skilled property underwriter. In doing ‘a bit of everything’ including finance and office management, her experience extends to contributing to the design of Delta’s back-end systems and processes. With this unique perspective, Amy is not only an underwriting superstar, but positioned to help train and onboard colleagues by sharing her knowledge of Delta’s liability and property system.

Having grown up in Gisborne, Amy’s at home working in the regions, and excited at Delta’s growth in her back yard. With a lifestyle block out back of Tauranga’s Welcome Bay, Amy is kept busy with her husband and three children, enjoying a spot of camping when the opportunity arises.

A fourth generation builder in a previous life, Kyle Steven spent 17 years in broking after getting into insurance on his OE. After a brief intermission back into the construction industry, a shoulder tap from one of his favourite underwriters – a Delta person, of course! – Kyle returned but this time on the underwriting side. Finding a distinct preference for handling broker relationships given his extensive experience, Kyle has rapidly advanced to the position of senior liability underwriter. He relishes sharing knowledge and helping junior brokers forge their career in insurance.

A Central Region office is not only a sensible development for Delta given the number of towns serviceable from Tauranga, but also demonstrates the company’s interest in and investment in the regions, Kyle believes. He’s looking forward to advancing the Delta story and growing the business through the consistent delivery of quality insurance solutions backed by sound risk management. Outside the office, Kyle is a keen hiker, with his most recent adventure taking him to Kathmandu and the Himalayan foothills. Closer to home the beach beckons, and he’s known to occasionally cast a line from the Papamoa shores.

New to the insurance world, Lisa Andrew’s years of retail experience serve her well in the role of office and underwriting assistance. A fellow ‘lifestyle-blocker’, Lisa joined Delta in October 2023 on the urging of neighbour and friend Amy Gillum and is embracing new challenges while enabling the growing Central North Island underwriting team with efficient administration and support.

With a busy household of a husband and two teenage children, Lisa enjoys hanging out with mates, supporting her children’s various sporting and leisure activities, and gets in a spot of reading whenever possible.
