Hannelie Fick - Senior Underwriter
Kia ora Hannelie Fick.
Coming into insurance directly from school, Hannelie Fick has steadily worked herself up the ranks to become a Senior Underwriter with a focus on both Property and Liability lines. But she hasn’t always been in the business – her analytical mind saw a sojourn into the demanding world of computer programming for several years in the late 1990s. The allure of insurance proved too strong, and she’s focused on underwriting since 2009.
Hannelie is agile and has successfully underwritten business in property and liability lines for insurance companies as well as for Lloyds Coverholders. She is a firm believer in constant learning and bringing versatility to the office and has applied her skills in multiple insurance roles over the course of a three-decades long career.
As Senior Underwriter for Delta Insurance’s Central Region office (located in Papamoa), Hannelie is focused on continuing to build and support on Delta’s existing broker relationships, in particular across the Bay of Plenty and Waikato regions. She believes there is considerable opportunity for companies prepared to provide on the ground knowledge and support to what was historically viewed as regional New Zealand.
Considering Delta Insurance as home to the most talented people in the industry, Hannelie says the bar is set for excellence. She’ll be looking to make her mark by empowering the broker channel with accurate and responsive underwriting, accelerating the pace of business as part of a commitment to locally based underwriting skills and support to brokers in the region. Believing firmly in the ‘pay it forward’ motto, Hannelie actively coaches junior colleagues, sharing the knowledge and experience she similarly gained from senior operators when new to the industry.
Her greatest joy is her family and friends, and she loves walking her two dogs Milo and Maple.
