Jordan Urry - Head of Finance
Kia ora Jordan Urry
While smiling that ‘anything finance ages you’, Delta Head of Finance Jordan Urry has a clear passion for the numbers. Many people in the insurance industry arrive through unexpected paths, and it's surprising that this is also how he ended up completing a Bachelor of Commerce.
Jordan started a bracketed association with the local branch of international firm BDO in 2010, before taking to the United Kingdom on an OE in 2015. There he came into the insurance industry, but from the back-office perspective. Joining a large insurance agency initially as an accountant, before moving up to become Head of Finance and later Head of Finance Transformation. “I basically chose the insurance gig because it was a shorter commute than the alternative,” he grins.
Back home in NZ, Jordan rejoined BDO in a senior role for some years, before coming back to insurance, and into Delta. It is, Jordan confirms, the people at Delta which made the decision an easy one – and he’s excited at the prospect of leveraging his experience in implementing at-scale financial and business management systems in a rapidly growing company.
Jordan takes a simple but profound approach to success, believing that when doing anything, it should be done well with everyone on board. With his talents added to the considerable pool, he’s confident that Delta is on a firm trajectory where everything will be bigger, better and faster.
When the working day is done, Jordan plays sports including hockey, soccer and netball, hikes when the opportunity presents itself, and is regularly seen walking his Japanese Spitz, Bao. He’s also a keen DIYer and has just welcomed his first child into the family.
