Not even the sky’s the limit for Petra Lucioli, Delta Insurance’s Group Claims Manager. Coming on board as one of Delta’s very first employees, she leads the claims function with a sense of personal style and pride which makes this culmination of the insurance value proposition a unique and satisfying experience for brokers and clients alike.

Petra’s background is in the law, completing her studies in the United Kingdom before starting her career as a solicitor before moving into the insurance industry initially in a legal capacity. As claims handling – particularly in the liability space - lends itself to precisely to this skillset, Petra quickly established her mettle in various positions including claims management, legal services, and acting as Liability Claims Counsel.

Her three decades of experience have culminated in progressing to Group Claims Manager as well as joining the Board of Directors of Delta Insurance (since 2021). While her current position is less hands-on, she still loves the process of claims handling, seeing it as an opportunity for problem solving when clients are in crisis.

As a manager across Australia, New Zealand and Singapore, she relishes the cross-cultural interaction of bringing together team members, brokers and customers in diverse geographies and markets, with a common focus on excellence in delivery.

Petra has made her mark on claims at Delta Insurance, driven by an underlying philosophy that the claims team is there to resolve claims in favour of the insured party.

Her biggest achievement to date is taking the lead in shaping the Delta Insurance claims team and process, with a ‘people centric’ approach putting the insured front and centre. Part of this is a deliberately low caseload for handlers, allowing the necessary focus on individual claims, contributing to positive customer experiences.

Outside the office, Petra admits to a slightly more ‘out there’ hobby: a keen aviator, she’s a certified Flight Instructor with multiple type ratings. As a true highflyer, her ambitions haven’t stopped there, and she’s got her keen eye on an aerobatic rating and formation flying.
