Sian Mullane - Senior Property Underwriter
Kia ora Siân Mullane.
Coming on board as the lynchpin for Delta Insurance’s Wellington, Wairarapa and Top of the South regions meant coming home for Siân Mullane, our Senior Property Underwriter. After all, she grew up, started her career in insurance in the region, and knows and loves the people and businesses who make it thrive.
Siân started in insurance as a Customer Service Officer for State Insurance and hasn’t looked back since. Rapidly working her way up the ranks, she was a commercial underwriter by 1995, zoomed over to Sydney the first chance she got on a one-way ticket, and with the travel bug biting, spent over a good decade in the United Kingdom.
Career highlights include the diversity of experience across a lengthy career, and a tenacity of focus which has seen Siân steadily climb the ranks by consistently adding value. Insurance also offered a unique way of travelling the world – and while noting distinct market differences, Siân is positioned for success with her natural curiosity and proven adaptability.
Delighted to be back in familiar territory, Siân is energised about empowering brokers in delivering innovative insurance solutions for the small to mid-market. Describing herself as ‘old school and picking up the phone’, she believes in the personal touch while being mindful of people’s time.
Operating in an earthquake and weather-disaster prone region, her mission is driving accessible insurance solutions for organisations with a clear need for risk mitigation.
Her focus on property is finding fertile ground in an underserviced market, where she believes Delta Insurance has a distinct edge with its rapid pace of doing business: nothing satisfies her more than turning quotes around in a matter of minutes.
While demonstrably an expert in her field, Siân nevertheless stresses the requirement for humility and an open mind, characteristics well-suited to a constantly evolving industry.
As a mother to two young children, Siân is an active and involved parent with her husband and has a passion for yoga and looking after the planet. Having come of age in the 1990s and a keen musician, she’s into rock and acoustic folk music (with a side of pop) – perhaps a little more so than most, playing guitar and singing tunes with her Irish family.
